Week of October 21-25, 2013

Happy Friday everyone!
We had a great week in Room 4. The kids have been loving learning and talking about pumpkins. We carved a pumpkin and hypothesized about how many days it would take to rot. We planted the seeds from our pumpkin. We compared and contrasted pumkin seeds and sunflower seeds. We learned how pumpkins grow.
We are ready for our field trip on Tuesday!
When we return, we will be writing about our trip and what we experienced at the pumpkin patch. We will estimate and count the number of seeds in a pumpkin, and we will conduct some experiments with some small pumkins. Who knew we could learn and do so much with pumpkins?!?

Important upcoming dates:

Tuesday, October 22: Pumpkin patch field trip. Please send the permission slip and $5.50 to school if you have not already done so. We can not take any more parent/grandparent chaperones at this time. If you are fingerprinted and want to chaperone a field trip, please look out for our next date (TBA).
Also, please note we will be eating a picnic lunch at the pumpkin patch. Children should bring their lunches. We will not have the option to buy lunch in the cafeteria.
For those parents/grandparents coming with us, please meet us in Room 4 at 9:00am. The bus will be leaving at 9:15. We will have centers that morning as usual.
Parent/grandparent chaperones for this trip:
Theresa Barajas
